Colour: Reddish brown to greyish brown, depending on the bleaching effect of the sun.
Description: Generally square, with some sleepers having grooves cut out for the rails on one side.
Comment: A new arrival from France - Used Azobe, with no tar or creosote treatment. Very clean & long lasting hardwood, for landscaping, decking, furniture, and construction. Some small variations of size in each pack -see photos
Weight: Heavy to lift, approx 180 lb (85kilos) Bear this in mind for carrying sleepers onto site (e.g. the back of a garden). You'll need at least two reasonably strong people.
Cutting: Very hard. You'll need a circular saw / chainsaw / powered saw to cut these railway sleepers.
Attaching / Fixing: Timberlok will just about screw through these without a pilot hole with a very powerful drill, but you might consider a small pilot hole first.
